Rent Tour 2009

The opening performance of Sweeney Todd by Hugh Wheeler with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim will begin Friday, July 23 at 7:30 PM. A preview performance will precede the opening on July 22 at 7:30 PM; matinee and evening performances will run through Saturday, August 7. Based on user demand, BWW is taking our commitment to arts education one step further with the launch of the BWW Student Center - High School Edition. This directory features upcoming show listings for more than 1500 high schools nationwide with more being added each week. Schools can register for 'enhanced' listings on the site - adding in photos, cast lists, videos, links and more. Productions that take advantage of this will receive highlights on our listing pages, extra editorial mentions and potential spotlight features.

Who Wants Cake? is pleased to announce its line-up of productions for the upcoming 2009-2010 season. The third full season kicks off with two hit musicals (back-to-back), continues on with a holiday staple, includes a world premiere and, of course, men in women's clothing.

The following is the Media Theatre's listings for its 2009/10 season of Broadway musicals. Ticket prices rance from $22 - $42.50. All Broadway musicals share the same weekly schedule, unless noted. Performances are on Wednesdays at 2:00pm and 7:30pm (exception: The first week of each run has only a 7:30pm on Wednesdays). Thursdays at 7:30pm (exception: The first week of each run has a 2pm and a 7:30 on Thursdays). Fridays at 8:00pm, Saturdays at 2:00pm and 8:00pm. Sundays at 3:00pm.

RMTC announces its 2009/10 season entitled, Season of Love.

Maine State Music Theatre (MSMT) has purchased the entire costume stock from Seaside Music Theater of Daytona Beach, Florida and will be making those costumes available for rental to other regional theatres and local organizations. The costume stock, valued at $654,000, includes high-quality costumes for approximately ninety musicals and will be available for rental starting in the spring of 2009. MSMT plans to expand its current website to include photos and costume rental information.

Broadway In Chicago is thrilled to announce the new national tour of Rent, starring original Broadway cast members Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp, will play a limited engagement at Chicago's Ford Center for the Performing Arts, Oriental Theatre (24 W. Randolph St.) March 31 ? April 12, 2009. The Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical Rent is produced by Jeffrey Seller, Kevin McCollum, and Allan S. Gordon.

The new national tour of RENT kicked off on January 6, 2009 in Cleveland, Ohio and runs through August 30, 2009 in Tokyo, Japan. RENT stars Anthony Rapp as Mark Cohen, Adam Pascal as Roger Davies, Justin Johnston as Angel Schunard, Nicolette Hart as Maureen Johnson, Lexi Lawson as Mimi Marquez, Michael McElroy as Tom Collins, Jacques C. Smith as Benjamin Coffin III and Haneefah Wood as Joanne Jefferson, with Karmine Alers, Toby Blackwell, Adam Halpin, Trisha Jeffrey, Telly Leung, Caren Lyn Manuel, Jed Resnick, Andy Senor, Yuka Takara and John Watson.
