Monti’s La Casa Vieja est. 1871 – 140 years old and still going…. Family owned and operated for over 54 years, Monti’s offers gracious hospitality and great food at reasonable prices. Built in 1871, Monti’s La Casa Vieja (“The Old House”) has a unique western atmosphere. Originally Tempe’s founding pioneer home, Monti’s has been carefully restored to reveal foot thick adobe walls, river rock in the floors and even a fountain in one of the many large dining rooms. Guests can dine in the very room where Sen. Carl Hayden, “The most important person in Arizona history”, was born in 1877. Known for our steaks but even more known for our freshly baked roman bread – it will keep you coming back for more. Monti’s is just a few short steps from the METRO Light Rail stop in downtown Tempe.
