Stray Cat Theatre Presents THE SPARROW, 9/23 - 10/8

Stray-Cat-Theatre-Presents-THE-SPARROW-20010101

The Stray Cat Theatre will present THE SPARROW, conceived by Nathan Allen, co-written with Chris Mathews and Jake Minton, directed by Ron May, September 23 - October 8, 2011.

Originating at The House Theatre of Chicago, Stray Cat proudly brings the Southwest Premiere of The Sparrow, a wildly adventurous and blazingly theatrical new work. Think a hybrid of The Sweet Hereafter, Heroes and Carrie...and you're part way there. The Sparrow is the dark tale of Emily Book, the only survivor of an accident that killed her entire elementary school class. The story begins with orphaned Emily's return home to a town that has yet to recover from the tragedy. As the town struggles to accept the strange girl who reminds them of what they lost, Emily attempts to hide the special powers that make her different while navigating the treacherous territory of being a high school senior.

Parking notice for OPENING SATURDAY THE 24TH

Come early. Don't be that person parked on the median. If you decide to come down on Saturday the 24th - and we hope you do if that's the night you were planning...we advise coming as EARLY as possible. ASU has a football game at home that night. The stadium is right down the street from the theatre. So parking will be a little trickier than normal. There should be the usual pay lots open. Meters will be available if they aren't already snagged up by tailgaters and such.

Consider making a night of it on Mill with dinner beforehand - or LIGHTRAILING for an even easier trek.

$10 for 10th We know you get asked from arts and non-profit organizations all the time for help. Certainly coming to see our shows is a tremendous amount of support for us. But we'll be honest. As we trek into our 10th season...we're still doing well...but one of our largest funders has left the state. This leaves Stray Cat with a hole of $10,000 we need to fill this season. We're obviously hoping ticket sales cover as much of this as possible. But you can help. And it REALLY doesn't take much. All it takes...is $10. If every person reading this is able to donate JUST $10 as a 10th year anniversary gift to Stray Cat Theatre...it'll help close our gap and ensure a sweet, secure ride all season long.

You can donate online and we'll also accept donations at the theatre before and after the performances.
